Joe Perry was born in Lawrence, Mass., in 1950 and formed the seeds of Aerosmith with bassist Tom Hamilton in the late '60s. By 1970, he was the lead guitarist of one of rock's most enduring groups. He's cowritten many of the band's biggest hits over the years and has contributed lead vocals occasionally. Starting in 1980, he's recorded sporadically with the Joe Perry Project and as a solo artist. The group's debut album, 'Let the Music Do the Talking,' reached No. 47. He's released records off and on since then, including the 2014 holiday album 'Joe Perry's Merry Christmas.' He also has a line of hot sauces, penned an autobiography, is a member of Alice Cooper's Hollywood Vampires and has been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame with fellow Aerosmith member Steven Tyler.
