Despite his name, the ZZ Top drummer was the only band member without an iconic beard.

Members of Guns N' Roses, Foghat and Rage Against the Machine were among those paying their respects to the ZZ Top drummer.

Frank Beard, the drummer behind ZZ Top's Texas blues thunder for over five decades, died at 77 at his ranch in Richmond, Texas, surrounded by family.

"The doctors did what they did so now I'm able to do what I do," said the band's longtime drummer.

Their co-founding drummer was off the road for two months.

The band has recruited a fellow Texan to fill in on their current tour.

Drummer admits he couldn’t afford to become an addict until big money payment in 1977.

They both rose to fame in the '70s, then made stirring comebacks in the '80s.
