Scott Ian, guitarist for Anthrax, will make a cameo on an upcoming episode of AMC’s popular zombie show, The Walking Dead. It will air Sunday, March 1 at 9PM Eastern.

You can see Ian’s transformation into a zombie in the video above (yes, his trademark goatee is covered up and his tattoos are painted over). In the clip, he discusses his love of the show, which goes all the way back to its origins as a graphic novel, and how excited he was to be on the set.

This is Ian’s second go-round with the popular series, although this will be his first on the broadcast version of the show. In 2011 he played a walker on a webisode called “Everything Dies.” He got the gig as a result of his friendship with Kirk Hammett of Metallica.

“I know [producer] Greg Nicotero,” he said. “We have a mutual friend, Kirk from Metallica. I met Greg as far back as the late '80s through Kirk because Kirk's a big collector of horror memorabilia. So I'd gone to the set of the webisodes here in Los Angeles, and got to get made up as a zombie."

According to AMC’s website, the episode is called “Remember.” The synopsis reads, “The group has a difficult time molding to a new lifestyle, forcing them to consider whether they can be the people they once were.”

Ian and the other members of Anthrax appeared as themselves in 1992 on Married with Children and a 1995 episode of the underrated NBC sitcom Newsradio.
