Roger Waters Contributes to Marianne Faithfull’s New Album, ‘Give My Love to London’
For her first album since 2011's 'Horses and High Heels,' Marianne Faithfull has rounded up a group of famous friends -- including Roger Waters.
Stereogum reports that Faithfull has announced that her next LP, titled 'Give My Love to London,' finds her setting lyrics to music written by an impressive group of artists that includes Waters, Nick Cave, Anna Calvi, Steve Earle, Pat Leonard, and Tom McRae. She also rounded up some solid talent for her backing band, which includes members of Portishead and Cave's Bad Seeds combo.
Due in September, the album heralds a full-fledged return to action for Faithfull, who's battled a series of health woes during the last decade, including a hospital stay for exhaustion, a breast cancer scare, and suffering a broken bone in her back last year that ended forced her to cancel a series of live dates. She's announced plans for a world tour in support of 'Give My Love to London,' which will arrive shortly before the October publication of 'Marianne Faithfull: A Life on Record,' a book of photos and writings culled from throughout her long career.
