Paul McCartney Re-Teams With ‘Genius’ Collaborator Stevie Wonder
Thirty years after teaming up for the ubiquitous '80s hit 'Ebony and Ivory,' Paul McCartney has once again collaborated with Stevie Wonder. This time around the pair have recorded a tune called 'Only Our Hearts,' which is featured on the former Beatles star's forthcoming album, 'Kisses On the Bottom.'
Wonder joined McCartney at Los Angeles' Capitol Studio to record the track -- one of only two originals included on 'Kisses,' which mostly features pop standards -- and couldn't help but gush about the musical talents of his friend.
"Stevie came along to the studio in L.A. and he listened to the track for about ten minutes and he totally got it," says Paul. "He just went to the mic and within 20 minutes had nailed this dynamite solo. When you listen you just think, 'How do you come up with that?' But it's just because he is a genius, that's why."
'Ebony and Ivory,' which was featured on McCartney's 1982 solo album 'Tug of War,' was a No. 1 hit on both sides of the Atlantic, spending seven weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100. 'Tug of War' debuted at No. 1 and would go on to receive an Album of the Year Grammy nomination in 1983. 'Kisses On the Bottom' drops Feb. 7.
