Former Oasis leader Noel Gallagher has never made a secret of his love for all things Beatle, in fact, quite the opposite. Influences are worn proudly on his sleeves. So his recent meeting of hero Paul McCartney was a thrill for the Britpop icon.

Before Paul's recent show in Milan, the two famous Brits met backstage to chat music and more. Noel admits that despite his own fame he was still starstruck. “I'm like a boy when that sh*t happens”, he wrote on his blog. “He's a true gentleman...the f*ckin daddy!!”

McCartney is wrapping up his hugely succesful European tour with a date at the Echo Arena in his hometown of Liverpool on Dec. 20th. Meanwhile, Gallagher is riding high on the release of his first solo album.

Released last month, 'Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds' veers away somewhat from the expected ground laid by his years in Oasis. In talking with the UK Telegraph, Noel described the recording of his solo debut as “very peaceful. No moaning, no sulking, everybody arrived on time, everybody left on time”.

For fans of Oasis, it's well worth checking out, as is brother Liam's offering from earlier this year, Beady Eye.
