Bad news, guitar geeks and riff nerds. According to an official announcement, the 3 Guitar Heroes tour, featuring Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth and Leslie West, has been postponed until early 2012 for a very understandable reason: insurmountable travel issues for West.

West recently underwent a partial amputation of his leg and is recovering and adjusting, making travel a challenge. He had experienced extreme swelling in his leg this past June and surgeons were forced to amputate up to his knee. Last week, West was fitted with a prosthetic leg, but it will take months before he can adjust, adapt and live a normal life with the appendage.

When faced with securing a viable path for West's travel while still confined to a wheelchair, the search for a vehicle went on for months but is now called off.  It is impossible for the guitarist to tour without the security of the wheelchair in which he has been confined to post-amputation. So this tour is headed to the backburner for the time being. More information will be made available at a later date.

Upon the initial announcement of the tour, West said he was “honored” to be a part of the road trip with Roth and Schenker. Looks like fans will have to wait a little longer until West is good to go! The tour was slated to launch on Oct. 6 in Connecticut and scheduled to run through mid-November.
