Experience Hendrix and Legacy Recordings have announced plans to release a new pair of Jimi Hendrix reissues, ‘In the West’ and ‘Live at Winterland,’ on Sept. 13, 2011.

Rolling Stone reports that ‘In the West,’ a 1972 compilation of Hendrix’s live performance, packs songs from the guitar hero's shows at the Royal Albert Hall on February 24, 1969, the San Diego Sports Arena on May 24, 1969, Berkeley Community Theatre on May 30, 1970 and the Isle of Wight Festival on August 30, 1970.  The approaching reissue will include covers of ‘Blue Suede Shoes,’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band' and more.

‘Live at Winterland,’ which first dropped in 1987, presents the Experience’s shows at the famed San Francisco ballroom on October 10, 11 and 12, 1968.  Originally a single-disc album, the reissue will be expanded to 4-CD box set size — making this a must-have for Hendrix gurus.

As previously reported, Jimi Hendrix’s manager, Bob Levine, recently renounced the late guitarist’s ex-roadie James ‘Tappy’ Wright’s claim that the musician was murdered by his UK manager.
