During their next tour, Dream Theater will try something new.

According to a post at the band's official site, they've booked a round of dates scheduled to begin in mid-February, taking them to "prestigious theaters around Europe" and including stops in Amsterdam, Oslo, Stockholm, Paris and Milan. Along the way, they'll be delivering what the press release describes as "a one-of-a-kind set in which they will be debuting their forthcoming album live in its entirety."

The new album, which serves as a follow-up to a self-titled effort released in 2013, is still awaiting an official street date; according to the press release, it's still "expected to arrive in early 2016," which presumably means that at least some of the audiences on the European tour could conceivably be treated to a preview of material that won't even be out yet.

Dream Theater's social media accounts have posted a series of recent updates from the studio, along with cryptic photos hinting at the new record and a website splash page that asks fans to "choose wisely" between "The Great Northern Empire" and "The Ravenskill Rebel Militia." They were also the focus of a recent Revolver feature in which guitarist John Petrucci promised that the upcoming album will mark "a further progression of the band's creative identity."
