It was a time of transition for David Bowie, and we're all still celebrating it some 40 years later. 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars' is getting the reissue treatment to mark the occasion, and will be re-released in stores on CD and vinyl next week. However, you can hear the remastered audio of all 11 album tracks now via a stream provided at NME.com.

The concept disc, issued back in 1972, was based around the titular Ziggy Stardust character. Bowie got all glammed up as the alien who came to Earth in hopes of spreading his message of hope while becoming a rock and roll star. In the process, he become the poster child for the glam rock scene of the '70s.

Songs on the CD include: 'Five Years,' 'Soul Love,' 'Moonage Daydream,' 'Starman,' 'It Ain't Easy,' 'Lady Stardust,' 'Star,' 'Hang On To Yourself,' 'Ziggy Stardust,' 'Suffragette City,' and 'Rock 'N' Roll Suicide.' The audio-only DVD tacks on previously unreleased mixes of the 'Moonage Daydream' instrumental, plus 'The Supermen,' 'Velvet Goldmine,' and 'Sweet Head.'

Pre-orders are currently being taken at Amazon for both the CD and vinyl versions of the 'Ziggy Stardust' disc.
