The Darkness Announce ‘Live at Hammersmith’ Album
U.K.'s the Darkness have just announced the release of their first-ever live album. The Darkness - Live at Hammersmith is set for release June 15 via Cooking Vinyl.
The album was recorded at the Hammersmith Apollo in London on Dec. 10, 2017, during the U.K. leg of their "Tour de Prance" in support of their latest studio effort, Pinewood Smile. With his typical flair, frontman Justin Hawkins could barely contain his enthusiasm at its impending arrival.
“The Darkness is untamed. It cannot be caged," he said in a press release. "Some very clever recording engineers have discovered a way to capture its essence; all that remains is for us to release it back into the wild. Life is about experiences, not possessions. This is your opportunity to possess the experience of the Darkness live, as perceived by your ears, leaving your eyes free to scan the road ahead for obstacles, or to watch Emmerdale with the sound off, or to mould clay, or to darn socks, or to look at the beautiful artwork in this magnificent gatefold. Release yourself into The Darkness - Live at Hammersmith.”
You can pre-order the record at PledgeMusic, where you can choose from a variety of formats -- including purple vinyl, CD, download and cassette -- and special autographed items for sale. Pre-orders come with digital downloads of “Buccaneers of Hispaniola” and their signature hit, “I Believe in a Thing Called Love,” the latter of which is embedded below.
