Star-Packed ‘Colbert Report’ Finale Includes Randy Newman, Peter Frampton, Ric Ocasek and Many More
'The Colbert Report' will be missed, but it went out on a high note..
Host Stephen Colbert bade farewell to his hit Comedy Central series last night, walking away in order to prepare for his new role as David Letterman's successor as the star of 'The Late Show' on CBS. But first, he surrounded himself with a truly impressive array of famous friends for a long singalong rendition of the World War II-era standard 'We'll Meet Again.'
You can watch it all unfold in the clip above, and even if you've never been a Colbert fan, it's worth watching just to see the sheer nonsensical star power that slowly assembles itself onstage as the crowd goes wild. Vox has what seems like it might be a complete list, including everyone from George Lucas to Big Bird, Henry Kissinger, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Smaug the dragon.
The crowd also included a fair number of rockers, led by Randy Newman on piano and rounded out by Peter Frampton, Cars frontman Ric Ocasek, Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, Cyndi Lauper and former R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe, just to name a few. Check it out above, and keep an eye out for Colbert after 'The Late Show With David Letterman' says its own farewell on May 20, 2015.
