Best Irish Rocker – Readers Poll
It's St. Patrick's Day (March 17), and we've chosen to honor the occasion with a special Readers' Poll dedicated to the classic rock musicians who call the Emerald Isle home. (O.K., to be fair, we may also raise a pint of Guinness or two!)
For such a small wedge of land, Ireland certainly has produced some of rock music's biggest personalities. Of course, U2 is the most famous and commercially successful act in the nation's history. Then again, few artists have maintained both their careers and creative independence for as long as Van Morrison.
There's also the mighty Thin Lizzy, probably the most straight-up classic rock band on our poll. In his all-too brief time in the spotlight, Phil Lynott led the band to the creation of some kick-ass and yet lyrically rich anthems.
Ireland is also home to two amazingly talented guitar legends, Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore. Sadly, neither of them is with us any longer, but that certainly doesn't mean you can't vote for them. Or maybe the Boomtown Rats are more your style? It's your call, but we'd certainly appreciate your vote!
