Bassist and founding member of the Dave Clark Five, Rick Huxley, passed away on Feb.11 after a losing battle with.emphysema. Group leader Dave Clark called the news “devastating” and said, “Rick was a dear friend and an immensely talented musician with an amazing sense of humor, he always made me smile.”

Huxley formed the legendary group with Clark, Mike Smith, Dennis Payton and Lenny Davidson in 1958. They would hit the big time as part of the British Invasion, and were, for a short time, viewed as the only true rivals to the Beatles. The DC5 racked up a string of hits including 'Glad All Over,' Bits' And Pieces,' 'Anyway You Want It,' and 'Havin A Wild Weekend.' Huxley was 72.
