Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers bassist Ron Blair turns 64 on Sept. 16. He joined the Heartbreakers in 1976, and played on their first four albums, through the early successes of 'American Girl' and 'Breakdown.'

He left in 1982 due to the tiring schedule of touring and was replaced by bassist Howie Epstein, who passed away in 2002. Blair then rejoined the Heartbreakers for the band's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which led to him returning in full to the band after a 21-year hiatus.
