Watch Revolution Saints’ New Video for ‘I Wouldn’t Change a Thing': Exclusive Premiere
Revolution Saints pull back the curtain on their upcoming sophomore LP with the premiere of the set's latest single and video, "I Wouldn't Change a Thing," premiering exclusively at Ultimate Classic Rock.
The trio -- comprised of rock veterans Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio), Jack Blades (Night Ranger, Damn Yankees) and Deen Castronovo (Journey, Ozzy Osbourne) -- will release their second album, Light in the Dark, on Oct. 13. Working again alongside producer Alessandro Del Vecchio, the band members marked a departure from their 2015 self-titled debut by tracking a large portion of the new album together in the same studio, stoking an added energy that Castronovo says is particularly reflected in Aldrich's playing.
"As much as I’m singing and stuff like that, he’s what makes this stuff shine," Castronovo tells Ultimate Classic Rock's Matt Wardlaw. "Because he’ll hear a song and he can take a basic idea and make it his own and it’s just killer. All of this stuff — this is a guitar-driven band, bottom line."
As "I Wouldn't Change a Thing" makes clear, that doesn't mean Revolution Saints' music doesn't make room for the members' more emotional sides. Penned by former Mr. Mister frontman Richard Page, the song immediately resonated with the group.
"I’m not a wimpy person, but I definitely kind of got choked up. I love the melody on that thing and instantly, it was like, 'Wow, this is going to be powerful.' I wanted it to be the best that it could be," says Castronovo. "I mean, Richard Page! I didn’t want to butcher what he wrote. It came out good and I’m really, really happy with the song."
With Aldrich and Blades juggling other commitments, scheduling is obviously a complicating factor in terms of any tour plans, but if they can clear time, the Revolution Saints are absolutely ready to take the stage together. "I’m going to see if it pans out. If we can all get together and schedules work, heck yeah, we’ll go play," adds Castronovo. "Definitely! We’ve got to. It has to happen."
