Get some buddies together, pop up the popcorn and get ready to watch a bona fide, Metallica-approved indie flick, because 'Hesher' -- the new film featuring the music of James Hetfield and company -- is coming to home video.

‘Hesher,’ which played in theaters last May, will be available Sept. 13 for a suggested retail cost of $28.98 on DVD and $29.99 on Blu-ray. The movie cast includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt ('Inception') as Hesher, “a drifter who crashes uninvited in the garage of a father and son in suburbia,” plus Oscar-winner Natalie Portman, Rainn Wilson, Devin Brochu and Piper Laurie.

What Metallica songs are on there? Five, to be precise: ‘The Shortest Straw,’ ‘Fight Fire With Fire,’ ‘Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth),’ ‘Battery,’ and ‘Motorbreath.’

Speaking with ARTISTdirect.com, Levitt said Metallica “dug the movie."

“It was a real honor and I took a lot of inspiration for this character from the basis of some of their early albums, this guy named (former, deceased bassist) Cliff Burton, who played on 'Master Of Puppets' and 'Ride The Lightning,'" he said. 'And when the band saw it, they were like, 'You know what?! He reminds us of Cliff,' and we didn't even tell them that's what we were going for..."

In other Metallica news, a limited-edition pressing of 1,000 copies of Metallica’s 2003 album ‘St. Anger’ on deluxe orange vinyl will be on sale for official Metallica fan club members, and on Because Sound Matters beginning Thursday, July 14. First Metallica's ‘...And Justice for All’ on green vinyl, and now this? Sounds like the metal greats are getting flashy.
