Earlier this week, it was reported that the long-rumored Kinks reunion may be happening without Dave Davies. "Dave’s invited to the party, but if he doesn’t want to do it, [the reunion] will happen anyway,” Ray Davies reportedly told Mojo.

But apparently he never said that. After Dave took to Facebook last night -- writing “I would love to do some form of a Kinks reunion with Ray" -- the Kinks' Facebook page followed up with its own post not long afterward: “Mojo is wrong. There will be no Kinks reunion without both Ray and Dave Davies. Ray Davies claims to have never said this.”

So maybe the brothers' perpetually cool relationship is finally beginning to thaw. Talk first surfaced late last year that the Davies were thinking about getting the band back together for some sort of reunion to celebrate their 50th anniversary this year. Since then, there's been much back and forth between the estranged siblings without any real news of a reunion along the way.

Frontman Ray has recorded some new material with original Kinks drummer Mick Avory, but guitarist Dave has not played on any of the songs. And everyone is in agreement (surprise!) that they won't tour unless there's something new to perform.

So now that Dave and Ray seem to be on the same page, or at least in the same book, hopefully something will come of this 50th anniversary reunion before 2014 passes.

In other Dave news, the guitarist recently participated in one of those ice bucket challenges you may have heard about. He was challenged by Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, and the results are more 'Star Wars' than soaked. You can watch the video yourself to see what happens.
