Current Guns N' Roses guitarist DJ Ashba has revealed that frontman Axl Rose is sitting on a plethora of unreleased material, and that a new album is on its way.

"Axl has a lot of great songs up his sleeve. He probably has three albums' worth of stuff recorded," Ashba tells an Australian radio station. "The stuff I've heard … I've been up in his hotel room many nights and he just sits down at the piano and plays. I'm like 'this is amazing, people have to hear this song' and he's like 'ah, this is something I'm tinkering on.'"

Ashba, who also plays in Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx's band Sixx: A.M., adds that he's excited to start recording more songs with the enigmatic GN'R singer. "He's just a genius when it comes down to music and I just cannot wait to sit down with an acoustic guitar and just write," says the guitarist. "He's just got this gift that's very, very rare."

Guns N' Roses released 'Chinese Democracy' in 2008, after a number of lineup changes and a 15-year span since the band's last studio album, the 1993 covers disc 'The Spaghetti Incident?'. Despite the long buildup to the the release of 'Democracy,' it was a commercial disappointment by GN'R's standards.
