With all the hoopla surrounding the induction of Guns N' Roses into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this week, we thought it would be nice to use our Pic of the Week to flash back to a time when the original group were unified -- in the love of spaghetti and makeup, at least!

This 1985, pre-'Appetite for Destruction' publicity shot finds bassist Duff McKagan, guitarist Slash, singer Axl Rose, drummer Steven Adler and guitarist Izzy Stradlin giving glammed-up contemporaries such as Poison a run for their money in the mascara department.

A couple of short years later, their debut album catapulted them to rock stardom. Adler would be gone by the time the band released their double-barreled 'Use Your Illusion' albums in 1991. Stradlin, McKagan and Slash would follow him over the next couple of years.

Rose still tours under the name with a new, expanded band, but many rock fans hoped the group's induction into the Hall of Fame would serve as the impetus for an original-lineup reunion. That did not happen, and based on Axl's open letter and "not in this lifetime" statements, it may never. But nobody can stop us from listening to 'Appetite for Destruction,' right?
