Chickenfoot are getting set to re-release their self-titled 2009 debut album in October, featuring four live bonus tracks. But fans won't have to wait that long for a taste; you can hear the live version of 'Lighten Up' right here, thanks to our exclusive preview.

Former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar and bassist Michael Anthony got together with guitar hero Joe Satriani and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to form Chickenfoot, whose debut effort went gold, but is not currently available. The group will rectify that with this new double-disc package, which features the entire original album on disc one. A second disc includes a bonus track from previous European editions titled ‘Bitten by the Wolf,’ and live versions of ‘Lighten Up,’ ‘Big Foot,’ ‘Last Temptation’ and ‘Something Going Wrong.'

The song may be titled 'Lighten Up,' but the members of Chickenfoot certainly didn't take that advice themselves for this track, which originally appeared on 'Chickenfoot III' and was captured in this live version during last spring's Different Devil tour. The drums and bass provide a perfect instrumental bed for the heavy guitar riff, topped off by Sammy Hagar's rough-and-ready vocal and a ridiculous Joe Satriani solo highlighted by lightning-fast passages that alternate with bursts of wah-wah.

The re-issue package is due on Oct. 16 from eOne.
