Jimi Hendrix’s First Two Albums to be Released on Mono Vinyl
On March 5, mono vinyl versions of the first two Jimi Hendrix albums, 'Are You Experienced' and 'Axis: Bold as Love' will be released. The news was announced yesterday (Jan. 8) via press release.
This will mark the first time the U.K. version of 'Are You Experienced' has been released in mono in the U.S. The difference between the two is that the U.K. version -- which was released first -- includes 'Red House', 'Can You See Me' and 'Remember' but omits the three singles, 'Purple Haze', 'Hey Joe' and 'The Wind Cries Mary.'
The two albums will be pressed on 200-gram vinyl, with each copy being individually numbered. They have been mastered by Bernie Grundman using all analog equipment from the original mono mixes that were made by Hendrix, Chas Chandler and Eddie Kramer. Both records also feature the original artwork.
If "Buy New Hendrix" has already been written on your calendar for March 5, 2013, it's because 'People, Hell and Angels,' Hendrix's new collection of unreleased studio performances, is coming out on the same day. Yesterday, the first single from that album, 'Somewhere,' was released.
