Watch Dan Auerbach Play ‘Shine on Me’ From ‘Austin City Limits': Exclusive Premiere
Dan Auerbach will make his solo debut on Austin City Limits tomorrow after having appeared on it twice previously as a member of the Black Keys. We have the exclusive premiere of "Shine on Me" from that broadcast, and you can watch it above.
The song is one of five Auerbach performs from his 2017 solo release, Waiting on a Song. The other two are the unreleased "Somewhere Between Eau Claire and East Moline," which he co-wrote with John Prine, and "Medicine Woman" by Robert Finley, who is signed to Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound label and performs the song with Auerbach.
On the show, Auerbach is backed by the same group of veteran session musicians with whom he worked on the record, including drummer Gene Chrisman and keyboardist Bobby Wood of the Memphis Boys. As the house band at Chips Moman's American Sound Studio in Memphis, the Memphis Boys played on dozens of pop, soul and country hits over the years, including Elvis Presley's "In the Ghetto," Dusty Springfield's "Son of a Preacher Man" and Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline."
Auerbach will also begin a tour in Vancouver tomorrow that will keep him on the road until April 5, when he wraps it up at Denver's Paramount Theater. The show is billed as the Easy Eye Sound Revue, and Auerbach will be performing with Finley and Shannon Shaw, whose band, Shannon & the Clams, is also signed to Easy Eye Sound and will serve as the opening act. The dates can be found below.
