The 17-year old young man in this photo has been in two of the most influential bands of the '70s. Do you recognize him?

While a student at an Ivy League university, he joined the band of one of protopunk's most lovable characters, with whom he cut a groudbreaking piece of minimalist garage rock. Then, in 1977, he hooked up with a New York trio that had met in art school that had already released one single. For the next decade, they mixed punk, funk, pop and world music with a unique lyrical perspective in a series of artistically and commercially successful albums. After their breakup, he became an in-demand producer for some of the '90s most popular alternative albums.
