'That Metal Show' will welcome founding Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi as the guest for its season eight-opening episode, which airs Aug. 20. Joining Iommi is guest guitarist Phil Collen from Def Leppard.

(Update: due to the recent passing of Warrant singer Jani Lane, the episode featuring the singer has been moved from October to Aug. 27.)

The show is hosted by New Jersey native and metal media authority Eddie Trunk, who's joined by comedic favorites Jim Florentine (who recently helped us cut Metallica's 'Load' and 'Reload' albums down to one collection) and Don Jamieson. Together the three of them meet with weekly musical guests to hammer out all things heavy metal in the serious yet funny style that has yielded the show a strong following.

Trunk is a firm believer that heavy metal has long been misunderstood. He insists that hard rock and heavy metal are two totally different things, and 'That Metal Show' is careful to define the differences.

This season promises a classic lineup of artists including Iommi, former Judas Priest singer Ripper Owens, Night Ranger's Brad Gillis and Jack Blades, Sammy Hagar, Cheap Trick's Rick Neilsen and Lars Ulrich of Metallica.
