Paul McCartney recently wished Ringo Starr a happy birthday with a musical tribute to his former Beatles bandmate. Macca and his band were filmed playing the Fab Four's 'Birthday' in their U.K. rehearsal studio to celebrate the drummer's 71st birthday on Thursday (July 7).

"Ladies and gentleman, today is Mr. Ringo Starr's birthday. Cool guy, cool guy. He is celebrating in Hamburg, we are celebrating here in London town," announced Paul before the band played the song. "We wish you a happy birthday. Yeah man. Have a great one. Love to you and [your wife] Barbara."

Macca is rehearsing for his North American tour, which kicks off with a two-night stand July 15 and 16 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y. The trek is currently scheduled through an Aug. 4 gig at the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. Click here to see the full itinerary.
