U2 singer Bono has issued a statement denying reports which stated he was rushed to the hospital last week after experiencing chest pains while visiting France.

The world-famous frontman, philanthropist and savvy investor confirms that he did indeed visit Princess Grace hospital in Monaco, but insists it was only a routine checkup:

"Despite press stories to the contrary, Bono has not suffered a recent health scare," a spokeswoman for the singer declared. "Reports of his being rushed to hospital for emergency treatment are untrue. Bono is in good health and enjoying a family holiday in the south of France."

And with that, both the designer sunglasses and leather jacket industries breathed a huge sigh of relief. Now U2 fans can spend their time looking forward to the kick-ass box set reissue of the band's landmark 1991 album 'Achtung Baby,' which hits stores Nov. 1, instead of worrying about their hero.
