Stevie Ray Vaughan

Even though he had been leading his own band, Double Trouble, for a few years, Dallas-born guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan's big break came when he played on David Bowie's hit 1983 album 'Let's Dance.' It helped make Vaughan's bluesy 'Texas Flood' LP an immediate hit. Throughout the '80s he released a string of albums that carried his blues, R&B and Hendrix influences. (Along with his brother Jimmie, who played in the Fabulous Thunderbirds, he also recorded a Top 10 album called 'Family Style.' Vaughan's career was cut short when he died in a helicopter crash on Aug. 27, 1990, at the age of 35.
