Nick Mason

The only constant in every Pink Floyd lineup since its mid-'60s inception, drummer Nick Mason played on recordings during the Syd Barrett, Roger Waters and David Gilmour eras. He's also the writer of some of the band's most memorable tracks, including 'One of These Days,' 'Echoes,' 'Interstellar Overdrive,' 'A Saucerful of Secrets,' 'Speak to Me,' and 'Time,' among others. Along the way, he's worked with Steve Hillage, the Damned, Gong and Robert Wyatt, and released one solo album, the jazz-focused 'Nick Mason's Fictitious Sports.' In keeping with his long history in the band, Mason has remained friends with both Gilmour and the long-departed Waters, and has appeared onstage with both recently. In addition to his lifelong passion of music, Mason is a classic car enthusiast and racer.

Nick Mason, the man behind the drum kit for Pink Floyd, has stepped in to save a favorite childhood haunt from closing its doors. Foote's is the music shop where Mason bought his very first drum kit, and now he, along with the store's sales director, Rob Wilson, are set to buy the business from the family who has owned it since the '30s.
