Queen’s Roger Taylor Premieres New Song

Queen drummer Roger Taylor premiered a new song on BBC Radio over the weekend. It’s the first track to see the light of day from his upcoming solo album, which was announced almost a year ago.

The song, ‘Sunny Day,’ comes from Taylor’s long-awaited solo LP ‘Fun on Earth,’ which is scheduled for release in the U.K. sometime in October. An official release date hasn’t been announced yet.

In the gently rocking love song, Taylor sounds an awful lot like Rod Stewart, with his raspy voice gliding over the big-ballad arrangement. Scroll down here to listen to a brief snippet of ‘Sunny Day.’

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the drummer. He joined his old bandmates onstage Sept. 21 in Las Vegas for the iHeartRadio music festival, where they played a bunch of old Queen songs with special guests Adam Lambert and fun. frontman Nate Ruess.

Taylor also just launched a Twitter account, where he will undoubtedly fill in fans on the development and release of ‘Fun on Earth.’
