With Pink Floyd set to release ‘The Endless River‘ on Nov. 10, the band has been slowly opening up about the new work, either by releasing the first single, ‘Louder Than Words,’ or throught self-made video interviews. The newest version of the latter can be viewed above.

In the two-minute clip, which also features some more musical highlights from ‘The Endless River,’ has David Gilmour discussing why it has taken so long to create the music, which consists of completing tracks that were recorded more than 20 years ago. “There was a period of time when we were endeavoring to be purist about it and to keep what we had and not add to it,” he said. “But, you know, we thought, ‘Well, if we were continuing with these pieces 20 years ago, we would have added to them’…So we changed our tack a little bit and thought, ‘Let’s just make them sound great.'”

Gilmour also gave some insight into the original sessions. “So, in the beginning of 1993, we went into Britannia Row Studios,” he added. “[We] set up, just like the old days, so the three of us could just play along with each other for the love of it [and] see what it came out like. Out of that, this album has grown — out of that grew ‘The Division Bell‘ album, as well.”

Earlier this month, Pink Floyd put out another video, where drummer Nick Mason talked about the concept of working on the last recorded works by keyboardist Richard Wright, who died in 2008. “I think this record is rather a good way of recognizing a lot of what he does,” he noted. “The most significant element was really actually hearing what Rick did, because having lost Rick, it really brought home what a special player he was.”
