Metallica and Carlos Santana took patriotism to a whole new level over the weekend, offering scorching renditions of the National Anthem before sports fans. But which star-spangled update was better? You decide in the latest edition of Clash of the Titans.

Santana, appearing Sunday before Game 2 of the NBA Finals, was joined by his hard-drumming wife Cindy Blackman Santana, who added an angular, free-jazz feel to the performance. "The pair absolutely crushed their take," Entertainment Weekly said, adding that Blackman Santana was "the night’s breakout star."

Metallica, meanwhile, took a two-guitar approach, as James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett tangled before the X Games on Saturday. Metallica were a consistent presence during the weekend's action in Austin. A new remix of "Lords of Summer" by the Glitch Mob served as the theme song for ESPN's coverage. Downloads of Metallica's X Games performance will benefit the Central Texas Red Cross, which is working to aid victims of widespread flooding.

Both set new standards in a rock tradition of reworking "The Star-Spangled Banner" that goes back to Jimi Hendrix. Now it's your turn to tell us which of these Bay Area legends you liked better. Listen to both takes below; you can vote once an hour for your favorite. This Clash of the Titans will stay open until June 14, 2015, at 11:59PM ET.
