Metallica and Hall & Oates are both members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but we get the feeling they don't spend too much time together at the induction ceremonies. That's why this mash-up of “Enter Sandman” and “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)” is so much fun.

Dubbed "I Can't Enter That (No Sandman)," the mash-up, which you can hear below via the embedded Soundcloud widget, takes the backing track from Hall & Oates 1981 No. 1 hit and weds it to Metallica's smash from a decade later. There are a few spots where the keys don't properly match up and James Hetfield's metal phrasing is sometimes at odds with Hall & Oates' soul-infused rhythms, but it's still cool to hear that the structures of both songs are similar.

It was created by a user going by the name of neilcic. He's got a bunch of other mash-ups available on his Soundcloud page, including one that combines Elton John's "Crocodile Rock" and System of a Down's "Chop Suey," and another made up of Loverboy's "Working for the Weekend" and Smashing Pumpkins' "Bullet With Butterfly Wings."

Although a mash-up could very well be considered an unauthorized use of copyrighted material, both acts are likely too busy with other projects right now to notice. Hall & Oates are flexing their legal muscle elsewhere, filing suit against a Brooklyn-based granola company for launching a product called "Haulin' Oats." Meanwhile, Metallica are in the process of writing the songs that will make up their next album. They hope to be done within the next month or so.
