Slaughter frontman Mark Slaughter has released the official video for "Devoted," the second single from his upcoming sophomore solo LP Halfway There.

Scheduled for a May 26 release via Megadeth bassist David Ellefson's EMP label and available to pre-order now, Halfway There finds Slaughter continuing to develop as a solo artist after 2015's independently released Reflections in a Rear View Mirror. Calling the experience of making that album "kinda getting back on the horse, so to speak," he promises fans of the band won't be disappointed by the new LP.

"Ultimately at the end of the day, anybody who is a Slaughter fan will certainly understand that I am a large part of the Slaughter sound and vibe, so obviously if you like that, it’s in there," says Slaughter. "It’s just that I take a lot more liberties on the solo side that I probably wouldn’t do when it’s a group effort."

Alluding to the band's long studio layoff — they haven't released an album of new music since 1999's Back to Reality — Slaughter compares his songwriting process to an exorcism, saying he frequently wakes up in the middle of the night with songs in his head. With the group focused on live performance in recent years, it sounds like fans can expect to hear more solo efforts in the near future.

"I’ve really come to the fact that since we haven’t made a Slaughter record in so long, it’s one of those things that I still have to make the art. That’s what I do," he adds. "That’s what I love to do, and that’s what I’ll continue to do."
