Kiss Coffeehouse Closing
The Kiss branding behemoth just seems to keep getting bigger, but not every business venture was made to last. Alas, that seems to be the case with the Kiss Coffeehouse.
The coffee shop, a fixture in Myrtle Beach, S.C., since its grand opening in 2006, is shutting down at the end of September, due to what the general manager referred to as "a steady decline" in business. (Somewhat confusingly, he also insisted that "it's not that we didn't do well.") The shuttering represents a reversal in fortunes for the once-bustling company, which at one point looked like it would be expanding to Las Vegas.
Featuring Kiss-themed decor and a lineup of drinks that included the Kiss Army Blend, French Kiss Vanilla and the Kiss Frozen Rockuccino, the Coffeehouse was initially very popular; Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley attended the store's grand opening, and its first year in business included playing host to one Kiss-loving couple's wedding. According to MyrtleBeachOnline (via Blabbermouth), the store also enjoyed consistently high honors in the city's annual 'Best of the Grand Strand' competition.
So get those Rockuccinos while you can, Kiss fans -- and let this be a reminder that tie-in merchandise doesn't last forever. So if you've been waiting to buy that Kiss Casket for your final reward, there's really no time like the present.
