They spent most of the '90s and early aughts recording sporadically as Heart, but Ann and Nancy Wilson appear to be making up for lost time: 2012 will bring plenty of live dates, a new box set, a memoir of their time in the rock 'n' roll trenches, and -- most exciting of all for longtime fans -- an album of new material.

Nancy Wilson shared the news during a recent radio interview, revealing that the new album will be titled 'Fanatic' and is earmarked for release in October. It'll be the follow-up to 2010's 'Red Velvet Car,' which debuted in the Billboard Top 10, giving the band its highest-charting album since the double-platinum 'Brigade' went to No. 3 in 1990.

No release date has been announced for the box set or the Wilson sisters' memoir, although they did discuss the writing process last year. As Nancy put it at the time, "We’re telling the whole story. I think it’s important to be kind of brutally honest without making anyone else feel bad in any way, if possible. There’s a lot of stuff you remember that’s like, ‘Wow, why did I do this with that person?’ or ‘What was I thinking?!’ or ‘How controlling was so and so?’"

While they're waiting for new music, Heart fans can content themselves with the band's busy tour schedule, which is booked clear through September. Take a look at the dates they've already lined up -- will you be seeing Heart live this year?
