Last week's news that Bruce Springsteen was considering offering official downloads of every concert on his tour in support of 'High Hopes' is now a reality. The singer made the announcement today (Jan. 17).

"Coming soon," said a post on his Facebook page. "Fans will be able to purchase special USB wristbands online and at tour venues, and use to redeem one live show download, starting with the January 26th concert in Cape Town. Downloads will be available within approximately 48 hours of the show, and online orders will begin next week!"

Springsteen's manager Jon Landau told the Backstreets fanzine last week that a conversation between Bruce and Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty helped convince Springsteen to make this a reality. While the details for Springsteen's download plan have not been revealed -- and could be very different -- on Matchbox Twenty's online store, the USB drive, which sells for $39.95, comes with a download manager that connects to Music One Live's site. From there, the fan can download mp3s of the concert to their computer.

After the show is downloaded, the 2 GB drive, which is branded with Springsteen's name, could presumably be used to transfer files like any other USB drive.
