Bob Dylan Reveals Release Date, Cover Art for New Album ‘Tempest’
Bob Dylan will mark his 50th anniversary as a recording artist by releasing a new studio album, 'Tempest,' on Sept. 11. The record will feature 10 original songs from the legendary musician.
The press release announcing this news didn't feature a tracklist or any notes on who played on the record, Dylan's 35th overall and first collection of new material since 2009's 'Together Through Life.' It does note that 'Tempest' is currently available for pre-sale on iTunes and Amazon, and that the record was produced by "Jack Frost," a well-known Dylan alias.
However, Los Lobos singer / guitarist David Hidalgo, who performed on 'Together Through Life,' reported a few months back that he was involved in the 'Tempest' sessions as well, and that Dylan was working with Mexican instruments: "He'd say, 'Wow, what's that?' He liked the sound. So we'd get it in there."
Dylan will kick off a late summer leg of his never-ending tour schedule on Aug. 10 in Alberta, Canada. If recent reports are true, concert-goers might see him performing on a grand piano, as opposed to the keyboard that had been his instrument of choice at recent shows.
