August 2015 New Music Releases
Our countdown of August 2015's New Music Releases features a highly anticipated new album from Motorhead – and a surprise project from Bon Jovi.
As of this writing, it appears that Burning Bridges will be principally made up of odds and ends, and may not even be released stateside. Whatever Bon Jovi has in store, the album arrives just one Friday before Motorhead's Bad Magic – the latter of which promises a more live feel since it was written and recorded in the studio, a first for Lemmy Kilmister's current lineup. Burning Bridges is Bon Jovi's first album since 2013's What About Now; we last heard from Motorhead in 2013, as well, with the release of Aftershock.
Notable box sets on the way in August include the four-disc A Chord Too Far from Tony Banks of Genesis fame, the Who's Volume 2: The Reaction Singles 1966, and the Faces' five-disc collection focusing on 1970-75, called You Can Make Me Dance, Sing or Anything.
Among the most intriguing live projects to look for are Gregg Allman's Live: Back to Macon, GA, Rainbow's three-disc Down To Earth Tour 1979, and not one but two from Deep Purple, titled From the Setting Sun: In Wacken and To the Rising Sun: In Tokyo. There is also a tasty vinyl reissue of Signals planned from Rush.
