Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London home today (July 23) at the age of 27. The Grammy-winning soul singer joins an eerie list of musicians who have died at age 27 that includes Jimi Hendrix, Doors singer Jim Morrison, Rolling Stones guitarist Brian Jones, Janis Joplin and Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.

Police have confirmed that a 27-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the singer's home in the Camden section of London at around 4PM local time. Winehouse, who has battled drug and alcohol addiction throughout her career, won five Grammy Awards for her 2006 album 'Back to Black,' which featured the hit 'Rehab.'

With Winehouse dying at 27 years old, her name is added to the aforementioned list of other famous music artists who have died at that same young age. Hendrix died in 1970 by choking on his own vomit, but the cause of death has been disputed; Morrison passed away in 1971 in Paris, with no official cause of death reported; Jones drowned in a swimming pool in 1969; Joplin overdosed on heroin in 1970; and Cobain shot himself in 1994.
