David Lee Roth and Van Halen's 1985 breakup, which happened at the height of their commercial success, stunned the music world. It took over two decades, and by various reports, several failed attempts for them to get back on stage together on Sept. 27, 2007 for their highly successful reunion tour.

Of course, it wasn't a full reunion. Founding bassist Michael Anthony, who is currently in Chickenfoot with Van Halen's second vocalist Sammy Hagar, was replaced by guitarist Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang. The new lineup, which Roth dubbed "3/4 original, 1/4 inevitable" at the show we attended, released the album 'A Different Kind of Truth' in 2012.
