Lee is one of the founding members of Motley Crue, which started up in 1981. The metal band quickly accumulated a devoted fan base, and Lee played a big role at concerts due to his elaborate drum solos, which often found him floating upside-down above the crowd.

After a solo career, multiple reunions with the band, and a television career, Tommy Lee spent the summer of 2012 with his bandmates touring the U.S. with Kiss.
