The territory south of the Mason-Dixon Line has always been musically fertile.

These are projects that don't include the keyboardist's two main bands, the Allman Brothers and the Rolling Stones.

The group's former drummer, Paul T. Riddle, talks about the song and tells UCR how he's honoring the legacy of late guitarist Toy Caldwell with his new band, Toy Factory Project.

"The band looks forward to seeing the great fans who have stood behind the MTB since forever," says longtime singer Doug Gray.

Straddling the middle ground between two popular genres, these bands and singer-songwriters take it to the limit.

The singer cofounded the group in 1972 and has been its sole original member since 1996.

Coheadlining summer run also includes Jefferson Starship.

First released in 1973, the song could get no further than No. 108 on the Billboard chart.
