In one of our more bizarre pairings in the November 2013 Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame election, we find two highly influential entities from the glory days of British Rock that are from totally opposite sides of the fence: Eric Clapton and Hawkwind.
In 1973, Hawkwind released what many consider to be one of the all-time greatest live albums, 'Space Ritual.' Recorded in late-1972 while on tour to promote their classic 'Doremi Fasol Latido' album, Hawkwind pulled out all the stops and turned a concert into an event.
The men of Hawkwind will be glad to put 2012 behind them as another longtime member has died. Guitarist Huw Lloyd Langton succumbed to cancer last night (Dec. 6), according to a statement on the band's website. He was an influential part of the band in the early 70s and throughout the 80s, appearing on 10 of their 25 albums.
