Cream

Cream was one of rock's first supergroups, pulling together guitarist Eric Clapton, bassist Jack Bruce and drummer Ginger Baker. Baker and Bruce had played together in Alexis Korner's Blues Inc. and the Graham Bond Organization; Clapton and Bruce were in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, after the former left the Yardbirds. The group released only a handful of albums before they split up due to tension between Bruce and Baker. But their thunderous trio approach to electric blues influenced everyone from the Jimi Hendrix Experience to Led Zeppelin. After they broke up, Clapton and Baker formed Blind Faith.

In fact, you could argue that the singer/bassist was a member of rock's first supergroup, Cream, which also included guitarist Eric Clapton and drummer Ginger Baker. Bruce's latest band, Spectrum Road, is also packed with star power, and the quartet will release its self-titled debut album June 5 on Palmetto Records.
