The Black Crowes frontman will release his third Chris Robinson Brotherhood studio effort on April 29, with a tour to begin on the same day and continue through May.

When word got out that the Black Crowes would be reuniting in 2013, fans were unsurprisingly excited by the news. But that meant that singer Chris Robinson would have to put his solo project, the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, on hold. At least temporarily.

You can't accuse Chris Robinson of running in place. Just over a month after the release of 'Big Moon Ritual,' the debut album from the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, he and his own merry pranksters have announced their follow up is waiting in the wings. 'The Magic Door' will be released on Sept. 11 on the Silver Arrow label.

Jerry Garcia might be long gone, but his children are always looking for a new dwelling. Enter Chris Robinson, once (and future?) lead singer for the Black Crowes, one of the purest rock and roll bands to emerge in the last 20-odd years. Their take on 'Sticky Fingers'-era Stones and Gram Parsons' ghost was always a thing of beauty.

As a member of the Black Crowes, Chris Robinson has his sibling Rich at his side laying down some great blues rock licks. But for his latest project, Robinson says he also feels the brotherhood as he and his new bandmates go for a different sort of sound.
