Two bands with Florida roots, Tom Petty and 38 Special, face off in the next round of Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame balloting.

Stop us if you've heard this one before. Following the cancellation of SeaWorld concerts by REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick and Heart in the past week, 38 Special have just wiped the aquatic theme park off its list of upcoming shows.

The Rock Legends cruise series has announced the lineup for its third voyage, and it looks like they're going to need a bigger boat.

Although Southern rock was in their blood, they put a more radio-friendly pop/rock twist on it.

With ‘Hold On Loosely,' .38 Special and Survivor’s Jim Peterik, who co-wrote the song, captured an emotional tug of war that was instantly identifiable to every single walking, raging pack of hormones who was alive in the ‘80s, both male and female. They also earned a spot on our Top 100 Classic Rock Songs list.

Southern rock greats 38 Special have just released a live rendition of their 1981 hit song, 'Hold on Loosely' to radio. The track was originally recorded for their fourth studio album, 'Wild-Eyed Southern Boys.'

After more than three decades together, 38 Special will be releasing their latest live album later this month. '38 Special - Live From Texas' will feature 15 of the band's classic hits, including a track consisting of a medley of 'Back to Paradise,' 'Somebody Like You,' 'Teacher Teacher,' 'Rough Housin',' 'Stone Cold Believer,' 'Like No Other Night' and 'Second Chance.' (whew!)
