The third round one battle in this month's Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame bracket pits Long Island's finest, Blue Oyster Cult, against that little ol' band from Texas, ZZ Top.

Each month, our readers will determine which of eight legendary artists or bands is immortalized forever for their contributions to classic-rock history. Really, it's hard to make a case against either band. For over 40 years -- with zero lineup changes -- ZZ Top has been dealing out their intoxicating mix of rock and blues on classic records like 'Tres Hombres,' 'Deguello' and the best synth-rock album of the '80s, 'Eliminator.'

Remarkably, Blue Oyster Cult have been around even longer, and are responsible for some of the '70s most enduring radio anthems, including '(Don't Fear) The Reaper,' 'Burnin' for You' and 'Godzilla.' And lest you think they were just the rock equivalent of a singles band, one listen to albums such as 'Agents of Fortune' and 'Spectres' will set you straight quickly.

So which of these two excellent bands gets your vote? Will ZZ Top need to get sharply dressed for an awards ceremony, or will B.O.C stomp all over them like some big giant lizard? The choice is up to you. You can vote once a day until Sunday, Dec. 15, at 11:59 PM EST, and the winner will be announced Jan. 6, 2014. Be sure to read our official rules here.
