Yes, it's John William Cummings -- better known as Johnny Ramone, the founding guitarist for legendary punk-rock pioneers the Ramones.

Born on Oct. 8, 1948, the Long Island- and Queens-raised Cummings helped form the iconic New York City group in the mid '70s, adopting their last name as his own alongside bandmates Joey (Jeffery Ross Hyman), Dee Dee (Douglas Glenn Colvin) and Tommy (Thomas Erdelyi). Their self-titled 1976 debut album sent shockwaves through a bloated rock 'n' roll landscape, giving birth to punk rock and remaining one of the most important and influential records in music history to this day.

Johnny stayed with the group right up until their 1996 breakup, performing on all 14 of their albums. He passed away on Sept. 15, 2004, two years after his band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
