Yes, the young man in this yearbook photo is none other than Stevie Ray Vaughan, the beloved blues-rock guitarist who was taken from us far too soon.

After years of building a reputation on the road with his backing band Double Trouble, Vaughan got his big break by performing on David Bowie's 1983 'Let's Dance' album. Soon after he released his own major label debut, the highly acclaimed 'Texas Flood.'

After a mid-'80s battle with substance abuse that threatened both his career and his life, SRV pulled himself together and mounted a highly successful comeback. Sadly, this only made his Aug. 27, 1990 death in a helicopter accident all the more tragic. Luckily, he left a lot of great music for us to remember him by.
